New to EMFH? Here's Everything You Need to Know

Whether you’re outsourcing fulfilment for the first time or moving from another 3PL, getting started with EMFH is quick and painless. Here are the most common questions from brands joining us.

East Midlands Fulfilment Hub (EMFH) is a Nottingham-based 3PL fulfilment centre supporting UK eCommerce brands with warehousing, inventory management, pick and pack, same-day dispatch, Amazon FBA prep and returns management. Our fulfilment centre is based at 133 Glaisdale Drive West, Bilborough, Nottingham, NG8 4GY, giving online sellers a central East Midlands logistics location for fast UK-wide delivery.

Getting started is simple. Contact our team by calling 0115 646 1101 or emailing 3pl@emfh.co.uk. We will review your products, average monthly orders, number of SKUs, sales channels, packaging needs and storage requirements. From there, we create a fulfilment plan, connect your store or marketplace, receive your stock and begin dispatching orders from our Nottingham warehouse.

Most eCommerce brands can be onboarded within 3–5 working days once the fulfilment setup is agreed and stock is ready to send in. More complex operations, such as multi-channel stock pools, kitting, subscription boxes or bespoke packing rules, may take longer. Your EMFH account contact will guide you through setup, stock booking, integration testing and first order dispatch.

No. EMFH offers flexible fulfilment support for growing brands. We can discuss a rolling monthly arrangement based on your storage, order volume and operational needs, so you are not locked into an unsuitable long-term fulfilment contract. Our goal is to keep your business through reliable service, accurate dispatch and clear communication.

Yes. EMFH works with both growing and established online retailers. Our fulfilment service is especially suitable for businesses that are starting to outgrow spare-room packing, manual postage labels or self-storage stock handling. If your order volume is increasing and fulfilment is taking time away from sales, marketing and customer service, outsourcing to a 3PL can help you scale more efficiently.

Yes. We welcome warehouse visits by appointment. A site visit is a useful way to see how your products would be stored, picked, packed and dispatched, and to meet the fulfilment team responsible for your account. To arrange a visit, call 0115 646 1101 or email 3pl@emfh.co.uk.

3PL fulfilment pricing depends on your product size, number of SKUs, storage volume, order volume, packaging requirements and shipping services. Typical costs include stock receiving, storage, pick and pack, packaging materials, returns processing and courier charges. EMFH provides a tailored quote so you can understand exactly what your fulfilment will cost before you move stock into our Nottingham warehouse.

We keep pricing transparent and clearly itemised. Your quote will explain the costs for receiving stock, storage, picking, packing, returns and any additional services such as kitting, rework, labelling or bespoke packing. If a special service is required, we agree it with you before work begins, so there are no unexpected fulfilment charges.

Storage is normally based on the space your stock uses, such as pallet positions, shelves, bays or dedicated areas. This makes the service flexible for seasonal businesses because your storage cost can adjust as stock levels increase or decrease. During quoting, we review your product dimensions and estimated stock levels to recommend the most cost-effective storage setup.

Yes. As a fulfilment centre dispatching regular parcel volumes, EMFH works with courier and carrier partners to support efficient UK delivery. For many eCommerce brands, outsourcing fulfilment can reduce time spent on manual dispatch and may also improve access to more suitable shipping services compared with arranging every parcel independently.

Invoices are usually issued monthly and include the fulfilment activity completed during that period, such as storage, pick and pack, dispatch, returns and any agreed additional work. Your invoice is itemised so you can see where fulfilment costs are coming from and track how costs change as your order volume grows.

Transparent 3PL Pricing — No Hidden Fees, Ever

We believe in completely transparent pricing. No setup fees, no hidden charges — just straightforward, itemised costs for exactly what we do on your behalf.

Which eCommerce Platforms Do We Integrate With?

EMFH connects directly with all major eCommerce platforms and marketplaces. Real-time order syncing and automatic tracking push-back are standard — no manual exports needed.

EMFH supports fulfilment for major eCommerce platforms and marketplaces including Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, TikTok Shop, Magento, BigCommerce and other online selling systems. We can also discuss API, CSV or order management software options where a direct integration is not available.

With a Shopify fulfilment workflow, orders can be sent into the fulfilment process, picked and packed by EMFH, and updated with tracking information after dispatch. This reduces manual order handling and helps your customers receive timely delivery updates. We will confirm your store setup, order rules and shipping methods during onboarding.

Yes. EMFH can support Amazon Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM) orders by storing your stock, processing orders, packing parcels and dispatching to customers from our Nottingham fulfilment centre. We help you maintain reliable dispatch workflows so your Amazon seller account can stay organised and operationally consistent.

Yes. Many eCommerce brands sell through multiple channels such as Shopify, Amazon, eBay and WooCommerce. EMFH can help manage order fulfilment from a shared stock pool, reducing the need to split inventory between platforms. This helps improve stock visibility and keeps your order processing more efficient.

If your platform is not listed, contact us with the details. We can review whether your orders can be handled through a direct integration, API connection, CSV import, manual upload or order management system. The best method depends on your order volume, system access and required level of automation.

EMFH offers same-day dispatch support for eligible orders received before the agreed cut-off time, typically 1:00pm Monday to Friday. Orders received after the cut-off are usually processed on the next working day. Exact cut-off times can depend on your carrier service, order rules and fulfilment setup.

Accuracy is managed through organised warehouse locations, clear SKU control, barcode scanning where applicable, structured pick lists, packing checks and dispatch procedures. The aim is to reduce mis-picks, prevent incorrect shipments and give your customers a consistent delivery experience.

EMFH can support dispatch through a range of UK courier and carrier services depending on parcel size, weight, destination and delivery speed. Common courier options include services such as Royal Mail, DPD, Evri, DHL, UPS and Whistl where suitable. During setup, we help match your products and customer expectations to the right delivery options.

Yes. Next-day and faster delivery services may be available depending on the courier, destination, parcel size and dispatch cut-off. EMFH’s Nottingham location gives brands strong access to UK delivery networks, helping you offer competitive shipping options to customers across the country.

Yes, subject to product review. EMFH can discuss handling requirements for fragile goods, high-value items, larger products and products needing extra packaging care. We agree packing standards, void fill, labelling, inspection rules and dispatch methods before fulfilment begins.

Yes. EMFH can support kitting, bundling, promotional packs, subscription box fulfilment and product rework. This is useful for brands selling gift sets, multi-item bundles, influencer boxes, launch packs or recurring subscription orders. Kitting costs depend on complexity, number of components and labour time.

Yes. EMFH can provide stock and order visibility so you can monitor inventory, dispatched orders, returns and fulfilment activity. The level of reporting depends on your platform integration and fulfilment setup. Our team will explain the available dashboard and reporting options during onboarding.

How We Pick, Pack and Dispatch Your Orders

Fulfilment is what we do best. Same-day dispatch, 99.8% accuracy and full real-time visibility — here’s how our pick-and-pack operation works for your business.

Hassle-Free Returns — Processed Within 48 Hours

A smooth returns process protects your margins and your brand reputation. Here’s how EMFH handles reverse logistics so your customers and your bottom line are both well looked after.

When a return arrives at EMFH, it is received, identified, inspected and processed according to your agreed returns rules. Products can be returned to saleable stock, quarantined, repacked, relabelled, disposed of or returned to you in bulk depending on condition and your instructions. This helps protect stock accuracy and recover value from returned products.

Return label options depend on your courier setup and returns process. EMFH can discuss return label workflows during onboarding, including pre-arranged returns, carrier return services, marketplace returns and customer service-led returns. The best setup depends on how your customers request returns and which platforms you sell through.

Returns are normally processed within 1–2 working days of arriving at the warehouse, subject to volume and agreed inspection requirements. During busy retail periods, such as January or after large sales campaigns, we prioritise efficient returns handling to help keep inventory accurate and resaleable stock moving.

If a returned item is damaged, incomplete, unsellable or does not match the return details, it can be quarantined and reported. You can then decide whether the item should be disposed of, returned to you, held for review, repaired, repacked or written off. This gives you more control over reverse logistics and stock value recovery.

Your storage space is based on your stock profile and requirements, not a fixed one-size-fits-all allocation. EMFH can store products on pallets, shelves, bays or dedicated warehouse areas depending on the size, quantity and movement rate of your products. As your stock grows, storage can scale with your business.

Yes. EMFH operates a managed warehouse environment with controlled stock handling, organised storage locations and security processes. Stock movements are recorded through warehouse workflows so products can be received, stored, picked and dispatched in a controlled way.

EMFH can store many common eCommerce product types, including fashion, beauty, homeware, gifts, accessories, supplements, electronics accessories, toys, sports products and general consumer goods. We may not be able to store products requiring refrigeration, hazardous goods, restricted items or specialist regulated handling. Contact us to confirm suitability before sending stock.

Yes. EMFH can support seasonal stock increases for peak trading periods such as Black Friday, Christmas, product launches and promotional campaigns. We recommend giving as much notice as possible so storage space, staffing and courier planning can be prepared in advance.

Yes. You can arrange for suppliers, manufacturers or freight forwarders to send stock directly to our Nottingham fulfilment centre. We will provide goods-in instructions, delivery requirements and stock labelling guidance to help ensure your inbound shipments are received and booked in efficiently.

Yes. A structured FBA prep process helps reduce the risk of missing labels, incorrect packaging, poor carton preparation or non-compliant shipment handling. EMFH follows agreed preparation requirements for your product type and shipment plan to help reduce avoidable delays and rework.

Yes. EMFH can support brands using both Amazon FBA and Amazon FBM. Some stock can be prepared for Amazon fulfilment centres, while other stock can be held in our Nottingham warehouse for direct customer dispatch. This gives sellers more flexibility when managing marketplace stock and direct-to-consumer orders.

Yes. EMFH can prepare bundles, multipacks and product sets for Amazon sellers where clear instructions and component lists are provided. We can assemble kits, apply labels, pack items securely and prepare cartons according to your agreed Amazon FBA prep requirements.
